ITE—A Community of Transportation Professionals (ITE) works to improve mobility and safety for all transportation system users, helping to build smart and livable communities.
Founded in 1930, ITE is a volunteer-driven association of more than 18,000 engineers, planners, consultants, educators, researchers, technologists, and students working in more than 78 countries.
ITECentral-Northeast Florida Section (CNFLITE) is affiliated with the ITE Florida Puerto Rico District. We provide opportunities for professional development and community building at the regional and local levels through annual meetings, training, luncheons, and connecting members with area Student Chapters.
Formed in 2020 under the OneITE initiative, the Central-Northeast Florida ITE Section (CNFLITE) serves as a networking and knowledge transfer platform for a brilliant group of Transportation intellectuals in Central and Northeast Florida. With nearly 400 membership to date, CNFLITE is home to four student chapters (University of North Florida, University of Florida, University of Central Florida, and Embry Riddle Aeronautical University) and one local chapter serving northeast Florida (First Coast ITE).

Unveiling 2025
Our end of the year event, Unveiling 2025, was a hit! We had a full house and recieved a great presentation from Steve McWilliams, PE, on a program update on Moving I4 Forward.Steve is the project delivery and risk mitigation lead for the program. Awards were presented and are listed below. New board members were appointed as well. We enjoyed a delicous lunch at Second Harvest Food Bank. Thank you to everyone for attending and enjoying this event with us!

Abstract: In 2019, Bjorg Olafs proposed to her client to build a work management tool to elevate her team's performance. Since then, she has built similar tools for a few teams. This tool was instrumental in maintaining productivity during the COVID-19 pandemic and has maintained its value after the return to office and hybrid policies were implemented. This tool has quintupled her team's output by streamlining tasks and collaborative efforts.

Who is Bjorg Olafs?
Bjorg Olafs is a Senior Project Engineer for HNTB Corporation, a leading national civil infrastructure solutions engineering firm. Bjorg is a professional engineer with 10 years of experience in transportation engineering, working on projects for the state transportation authorities, including Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Districts 2 and 5. Bjorg is currently providing in-house support to District 5, where she works closely with Department staff to manage the TSM&O and traffic operations pushbutton design program, is Engineer of Record on signalization/ITS and minor roadway projects, and serves as a consultant project manager on traditional let signalization and intelligent transportation system projects. Prior to joining HNTB, Bjorg worked as a Construction Engineering Inspector (CEI) on bridge rehabilitation projects, project sizes ranging from $2.6 million to $8.3 million. Other experience includes project management on local agency projects on or off the State Highway System (SHS), technical reviews of signalization and ITS projects, special contracting for fast response contracts, and agile project and program management. Outside of traditional work practices, Bjorg serves as HNTB's recruitment champion at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, which includes speaking at student information sessions and attending career expos. Bjorg is a STEM advocate and last year mentored a masters student at Embry-Riddle and spoke at an ACE Mentor Program of America (Tampa) meeting to encourage STEM high school students to consider the transportation industry for their future profession. Bjorg has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where she was recruited from Iceland to play collegiate soccer alongside her studies.
