Greater Tampa Section ITE
What is GTSITE?The Greater Tampa Section of ITE (GTSITE) provides members in the greater Tampa area and southwest Florida with a network of local transportation professionals. GTSITE organizes events including lunch meetings with industry speakers, volunteering opportunities, social outings, and an annual awards banquet. The University of South Florida (USF) ITE Student Chapter is also part of the Greater Tampa Section.
ITE is an international educational and scientific association of transportation professionals who are responsible for meeting mobility and safety needs. ITE facilitates the application of technology and scientific principles to research, planning, functional design, implementation, operation, policy development, and management for any mode of ground transportation. ITE is a community of over 17,000 transportation professionals working in more than 90 countries worldwide. |

March 20: Webinar - FDOT Design Manual Updates
A presentation was given by Tiffany Gehrke, State Complete Streets Coordinator at the Florida Department of Transportation. FDOT undergoes updates to the FDOT Design Manual annually. This presentation covered the 2024 updates relevant to bicyclists and pedestrians and discussed how non-motorized counts can support design decisions.

February 17: MATHCOUNTS Volunteering
MATHCOUNTS is a program that promotes mathematic achievement of middle school students. Volunteers from GTSITE helped set up and break down the event, grade tests, and proctor exams at the competition held at the USF St. Petersburg campus.

December 2: GTSITE High School Speech Contest
GTSITE hosted a speech contest at USF for currently enrolled high school students who are residents of Charlotte, Citrus, Collier, DeSoto, Hardee, Hernando, Hillsborough, Lee, Manatee, Monroe, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, or Sarasota County. The five minute speech topic was the "Impact of Transportation Facilities on Environment". There were cash prizes for the top three winners. |
November 2: Port Tampa Bay Tour
GTSITE participated in a tour of Port Tampa Bay on Thursday, November 2nd, 2023. The tour will included a boat tour and visit to the Vessel Traffic Control Center.

October 22 - 24: Florida Puerto Rico District ITE Annual Meeting
The Florida Puerto Rico District of ITE had their annual meeting on October 22nd - 24th. At the awards luncheon, it was announced that the Greater Tampa Section was recognized as the 2023 Section of the Year! Thank you to all of our members for being so active and involved this year. |
October 21: Women of GTSITE Bolt Run
On October 21st, the Women of GTSITE hosted a group event, the 23rd Annual Bolt Run. Several GTSITE members signed up to run the 5k race that took place along Bayshore Boulevard. Money from each registration will benefit local mental health initiatives via the Lightning Foundation.

RS&H is currently seeking an entry level Travel Demand Modeler to support our national Transportation Planning Consulting Practice based out of our Miami, FL office and work with our dynamic team on a vast list of multimodal projects.The entry level Travel Demand Modeler will work in a highly flexible, team-oriented environment and must have excellent communication, strong data and analytical skills, and documentation skills. He or she will participate in the collection and analysis of data, technical analysis of transportation planning projects of varying size and scope, development of recommendations, and report and presentation development. The person will provide support to our clients on the state, regional, and local levels.
